Red Feather Lakes Elementary School

The little school in the pines

About Us

History

Red Feather Lakes Elementary School, built in 1985 and located 48 miles northwest of Fort Collins, was originally a two-room schoolhouse.

Featuring a multi-graded learning environment, Red Feather has three certified teachers with classrooms divided as grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. The intimate atmosphere ensures staff members know every student and encourages the highest level of instruction and learning opportunities. Students develop an appreciation for nature and take advantage of outdoor learning opportunities, including a ½-mile nature trail.

Academics and Activities
Red Feather Lakes Elementary is the first Project Learning Tree Certified School in the state of Colorado, and features a small student/teacher ratio and daily preschool. Challenging math programs and learning opportunities focus on literacy instruction, including rigorous reading and writing and literacy lab for support. The fully networked computer lab and media center complement all instructional areas. Art, music, technology and physical education classes are offered weekly.

Our multi-age classrooms support differentiated instruction and deliver a standards-based curriculum with 21st century technology.  Gifted students are offered extended learning opportunities through daily classroom activities.

Opportunities for parents
Parents and the Red Feather Lakes community are an integral part of our success. Our highly supportive PTO meets monthly and hosts the annual Spring Swing, a long standing tradition ear tradition. PTO-generated funds provide students with field trips, library books, classroom instructional needs, and playground equipment. Parents volunteer in classrooms, sponsor book fairs, and enriching activities.
